I have a new friend. Full Sail Brewing likes to call it Session Ale.

Session Ale

Full Sail Press Release

Normally, I’m not much of a fan of Full Sail brews. I find them less flavorful and satisfying than many of my favorites (Deschutes, Stone, Rogue, Mendocino). This one, however, I find quite choice. If you can’t tell by looking at it, it is very similar to Red Stripe, though more flavorful without being imposing. I first found it while I was at the coast, and couldn’t stop drinking it. And I was in the land of Rogue! Don’t worry, I put down plenty of Dead Guys too.

Nice work Full Sail! This is an amazingly easy drinking beer, that doesn’t leave anything behind. Very crisp. I also love stubby bottles; I think that’s what first drove me to Red Stripe. And best of all, I’m seeing it in stores for about $1/bottle, and even when the ‘Stripe is on sale, it’ll cost you more than that.

Whew, I’m thirsty.

es bueno. me encanta. no hay mejor cerveza de hops.

I wish I had the ability to speak spanish. I took 5 years of it in high school. And that’s about all I got.

Except, pones tu hierba en alli. You put your weed in there (SNL). Or, chinga su madre con un batidor de huevo. I’m not going to translate that one ;)

But yeah, I am going for broke. I opened the El Bastardo Doble, and frankly, regular Arrogant Bastard is hoppier and harsher. That should probably be more hoppy and more harsh. but I don’t care. It’s Thirstday, and I’m on it.

Maybe it was the two 120 minute Dogfish. maybe not. But I’ll say with authority, that Arrogant Bastard is less enjoyable than Double Bastard. Not that I mind either of them.

I have to put my daughter to bed. I’ll see y’all soon.

My beer from Cid and DMTri finally arrived today. One of the Double Bastards they sent me exploded, so the destroyed, beer-logged box came inside of a plastic bag. I wonder what security was thinking when they saw the box was leaking.

Anyway, it’s here, along with a bastard-logged copy of Silent Bob Speaks. I may have to pick up a new copy before I get to reading it.

I’ll let you know what I think on the flip side.

A rundown…

Deschutes Brewery released their Bachelor Bitter in - get this - bombers. I saw it for the first time at Galveston 7-11 today after work. Of course, I snatched it up along with a deuce-deuce of Dead Guy. Dead Guy is my all-time favorite beer. Hands down. But I digress…

The Bachelor Bitter is great. Now that they only serve it at the pub, I rarely get to have one. But it translates to the 22 format quite nicely, and damn does it ever feel good to be drinking a Deschutes out of a bomber. I’m a little past halfway done with it. mmmm.

Lately, I’ve been drinking a lot of 20″ Brown Ale, a seasonal from Cascade Lakes Brewery. It’s the best Cascade Lakes brew I’ve had yet, save maybe for the Roadhouse Rage, a beer they brewed exclusively for Kayo’s Roadhouse. I always really liked it, buy Kayo’s is spendy, so I never really got to sit down and give a full eval. They don’t make it anymore. Cascade Lakes makes some okay other beers, but none I’ve ever really gotten down with. The Brown Ale is smooth, and finishes really quickly for such a strong, tasty beer.

The other main beer that I’ve been putting away is a Widmer. Now, Widmer hasn’t made anything I’ve really cared for. Their Hefeweizen is their bread & butter. I am not a wheat-beer kind of guy. Not my pint of Dead Guy, that’s for sure. But they made a seasonal, limited release IPA they call W ‘05. Now, if you’ve ever been a fan of the micros, you would probably expect a seasonal, limited release IPA they call W ‘05 to be well shy of the hoppy goodness you crave. But damn….they nailed it. I was expecting Bridgeport-stylee IPA. Which is a good beer, but very short on taste. No, the w ‘05 is quite good, it has a real Booneville bite. You should pick some up if you get the chance.
