I have a new friend. Full Sail Brewing likes to call it Session Ale.

Normally, I’m not much of a fan of Full Sail brews. I find them less flavorful and satisfying than many of my favorites (Deschutes, Stone, Rogue, Mendocino). This one, however, I find quite choice. If you can’t tell by looking at it, it is very similar to Red Stripe, though more flavorful without being imposing. I first found it while I was at the coast, and couldn’t stop drinking it. And I was in the land of Rogue! Don’t worry, I put down plenty of Dead Guys too.
Nice work Full Sail! This is an amazingly easy drinking beer, that doesn’t leave anything behind. Very crisp. I also love stubby bottles; I think that’s what first drove me to Red Stripe. And best of all, I’m seeing it in stores for about $1/bottle, and even when the ‘Stripe is on sale, it’ll cost you more than that.
Whew, I’m thirsty.

I always appreciate a good beer recommendation, so thanks Andy. I’ll be making my way to BevMo soon…
Off the topic, but going wine tasting made me realize how much more I know my tastes in beer - what I like, what I appreciate but don’t prefer, what is good only once in a while or in a certain situation. Wine is (for me) a little too expensive of a hobby to get a feel for your preferences. Beer rules! Anyway, thanks…Lolo and I have yet to try Red Stripe, but I’m very drawn to the stubby bottle. What does it taste like?

Red Stripe is a pale lager with a light flavor, and a hint of sweetness in its aroma and taste. It’s hard to compare it to anything, since most of the time I drink ales.
A Budweiser, Coors, or Miller type beer is an American light lager, a style which has less flavor and is meant to be drunk very cold.
Lagers, typically, are crisp, clean, fizzy, and golden with low hoppiness and no one flavor dominating the others.
Just go get a six of the ‘Stripe or Session and check it out for yourself. You may not love them but it’s a flavor that would be very hard to hate.
