So finally, after learning that my G4, Greyboy, is too old to support IDE drives larger than 128GB, ordering a Sonnet Tempo ATA133 PCI card to support my new WD 250GB CaviarSE, Greyboy is up and running on the 250GB. That, plus two 72GB Ultra160 SCSI drives, which used to be plenty of storage by themselves, makes a whopping 490GB of drives. So currently, I have 270GB free space. kick ass!

Mad props to Carbon Copy Cloner. I used this program to copy the entire boot partition to the new drive, which copied about 50GB in about 25 minutes, and then booted perfectly. All settings, preferences, etc. still perfectly in place.

On to the next task. Installing OS X 10.4.1. I am currently running 10.3.9, and it works nicely, but I like to keep current. That, and the new iLife ‘05, with GarageBand2, iDVD5 (which now natively supports external DVD-RW drives), iMovieHD, and iPhoto5.

word. Next up, a desktop machine rocking a terabyte of storage. :)

yeah, so I’m on a car kick. The weather is nice and that brings out all the cool cars that their responsible owners leave in their garages throughout the Central Oregon winter.

I just found this site, a very good version of one of my favorite types of websites: a timeline and history of the Porsche 911.

It’s rife with information, facts, figures, and pictures of one of the all time greats of motoring history. Check it out, if you’re a car geek, you probably dig the 911. And now you can know nearly everything about it.

Honda took the wraps off the new Civic Si concept at the 2005 Chicago Auto Show. Pretty nice looking overall. Especially compared to the mini-minivan looking thing they sell as the Si now. I like the carbon fiber hood look they’re going for by painting it black.

The engine will be VTEC goodness, rated at 200hp with a 8000-rpm redline, hooked to a close-ratio 6-speed manual. Gotta love the VTEC.

Especially cool, they plan to offer 18″ rims, Brembo calipers and cross-drilled rotors, and a helical limited slip differential. The LSD will be a welcome addition, because on a front-driver it solves two big problems: torque steer; the car’s tendency to pull to the side on a hard, high-rpm shift, and in hard cornering, the car’s tendency to lose speed by bogging down on the inside front tire.

I’m not big on the wing, as I am a staunch supporter of the “Wings are for Faeries” school, but a small lip spoiler or something would almost be necessary in it’s place, to reduce the visual size of the large sloping rear end, another Honda/Acura styling cue I am not a big fan of. Think Accord coupe 1998-on and it’s Acura counterpart the CL (1997-on).
