I like the amendment. More to the point, I think it's an important enough revision to the Constitution to necessitate amending it to the Constitution.

I really liked the line from the article you linked where someone said that the flag represents American freedom. If I don't have the freedom to burn the flag as a political statement, I want to know what real freedom I have.

I'm not sure how it would work. If it really became an amendment, the courts would have to uphold it, because it would really be an actual constitutional law.

But that doesn't change the fact it's total bullshit.

wow. i'm ashamed that even my man obama voted for the criminalization of flag burning. what a crock of shit. but still, won't criminalization fail because the courts will likely find that the law conflicts with the 1st ammendment and must be tossed out?

I mean don't get me wrong, I'm still pretty fucking pissed about dumbass politicians trying to tear down everything the nation was founded on, be it the flag burning thing or the "traitors" over at the New York Times who had the "audacity" to publish a story after being asked not to by BushCo. and are catching flack from all sides, even though the banking transaction traces were common knowledge after being talked about by BUSH HIMSELF over the course of the past FIVE YEARS! As Glenn Greenwald wrote today, they didn't so much run an expose as point out that there was no oversight of those doing the surveillance.

Blah! I need to enforce a break from news for a while or I may die of a heart attack before my 25th birthday.
