Finally…
Many of you probably don’t know this, or believe it. But I’ve never read the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy. I haven’t actually read any Douglas Adams, ever. I’m embarrassed, considering the rave reviews it appears literally everyone in the universe has given him. So when I was in the book store wandering around for hours the other day, I noticed The Ultimate Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy and decided the time had come to chock it up and dive in. It’s all 6 of the Hitchhiker “Trilogy” books, or something, I guess. I don’t really know.
I haven’t got far, and don’t have much to say about it at this point, but it seems like a fun read. I rarely read fiction at all, and when I do, I have a tendency to give up part way though, which makes this massive volume seem daunting…but we’ll see.

it seems like a lot all at once to me. But then again, I hadly ever read just one book from cover to cover. I prefer to have a few going.

if anything, they’re really short. and you only have to read the first one. maybe the second, if you’re feeling gutsy. those are the only ones that the film should cover, though the third is hilarious (if you’re down with homicidal robots from the planet Krikit). They’re just good british humor, like a printed word red dwarf. too be fair, i’ve only read them in the past week, though i think i read them in 3rd or 4th grade, it was so long ago that it seemed like the first time.

I have trouble reading sci-fi, like it takes a lot for me to get into it, but the first 2 books of the trilogy are really entertaining and easy to get through. I’m reading the 4th this week (there are 4 books in the trilogy) simply to have read them all before the movie comes out. I read the first 3 back to back and got a bit worn out, plus I didn’t care for the third as much as the first 2. Anyway, you should enjoy them. Just my $.02

Don’t forget your towel.

uh….doesn’t trilogy imply 3 works? You can’t have a 4 part trilogy, can you?

No…not always. At least not in this case.

Yep. That’s right. There’s actually 5 books in the trilogy.
